The final big event in Xbox section prior FIFA eWorld Cup has ended with Stokes clinching the title. The player of Rebel FC won FIFA 19 Global Series Xbox Playoffs to secure the spot at FIFA eWorld Cup.

Group Stage

After the Group Stage, it didn’t look like Stokes was going to win the title. He lost the opening duel against LOSC Crafty with aggregate score 4-3. Afterward, he humiliated SaLz0r after beating him in both legs (7-3, 4-1). In the next round, Stokes convincingly defeated MCES RayZiaaH with ending result 7-2. In the following round, however, Stokes faced another tight loss versus PSG DaXe (6-7). Hence, Stokes desperately needed to win the following round in order to keep a positive score. He managed to do so against iBattleCat (3-1, 4-2), so he got only one round away from securing Playoffs.

Finally, in the sixth round, Stokes outlasted his teammate, Painter, (3-3, 1-0) to advance. Whereas Stokes struggled a little bit in the Group Stage, his opponent in the Grand Final, and the clear favorite for winning the title, F2Tekkz, dominated the field with a perfect 4-0 score. The second favorite, Msdossary also recorded all four wins without a single loss. Therefore, Stokes’ triumph wasn’t expected.

Playoffs

In the Playoffs, Stokes kicked off with victory (8-6) against Harry. In that way, he secured a ticket for FIFA eWorld Cup. So, he accomplished the main objective, but there was more to come for a talented British player. All his remaining matches were tight and they could easily go either way. On his path to the Grand Final, he defeated Phenomeno (11-9), Painter (9-6), and Vini (4-3). In the Grand Final, Stokes met the best FIFA player at the moment, F2Tekkz. However, Stokes prevailed (5-3) to win FIFA 19 Global Series Xbox Playoffs. On top of a secured spot at FIFA eWorld Cup, Stokes took $75,000 home. This is his first title this year after dropping out in Quarters of FUT Champions Cup in April and Gfinity LQE 2019 in March.
