The recent VGG Visioning Session (October 18th) identified the need for two volunteer positions to be created:

Volunteer Coordinator

Primary duties: promoting the VGG Volunteer Corps and the benefits of membership therein, maintaining an up-to-date list of committed & available volunteers, managing the storage of VGG equipment, coordinating volunteer appreciation events, working closely with convention leaders to schedule volunteers as needed for set-up, take-down, entries and exits at all VGG cons and events.

You'd work with: volunteers, the VGG Board, event venues, event organisers and community organizations

The rewards: a Volunteer Coordinator business card; a letter of reference, on official letterhead, from VGG president (this may impress employers and other organizations!); a VGG t-shirt; free entry into VGG conventions which you help manage; the chance to set up volunteer appreciation events, and decide what form they take; a hand in making vancouver conventions rock.

GameMaster Coordinator

Primary duties: setting up/maintaining a list of active GMs interested in traveling to conventions; communicating with other organizations who are setting up events; coordinating the VGG's efforts to support other events, by communicating with the GMs-on-list to get people to those events, possibly with discounted or free tickets.

You'd work with: other gaming organizations (local and regional), local GMs, local players, the VGG board.

The rewards: A GM Coordinator business card; a letter of reference, on official letterhead, from the VGG President (this may impress employers and other organizations); a VGG t-shirt; free entry into VGG conventions; possible discounts into conventions with other organizations; being an outward face of the VGG; having an immediate hand in improving community collaboration.

If you'd like to nominate yourself or someone else to either of these positions, please do so here along with 1-2 lines about why you think this person is well-suited to the task.

I'd like to nominate Burgess (emryys) to the position of GameMaster Coordinator.
He's got an impressively diverse set of connections within the gaming community - indie rpgs, trad rpgs, card games, board games... he's personable, enthusiastic and has experience getting GMs to events (Wayward Conventions).

Loudly second this, as he has proven himself an outstanding asset to the VGG and genuine pleasure with which to work. So Say We All! Grin

I'd also like to nominate myself for the Volunteer Coordinator. I have experience doing event organization and managing volunteer teams.

Don't feel like either of my suggests eclipses the need for more nominations, though! Suggest people!

I may be interested, but I need to find out the level of responsibilities in my new job first, since it's a paying Gig... Wink

I'm willing to step up for Volunteer Coordinator.

I know I'm new here, but I'm friendly, personable, detail-and-task oriented, and have time to kill (I normally only work 3 days a week...)
I'm also interested in seeing the VGG take off and become a real success here. You've likely seen how I've dived in on the Weathertop issue already.

Managing storage of equipment might be a tad tricky, as I really don't have space, and on top of that I don't have a car to transport it.

Storage of stuff is not currently an issue, most if not all is in my storage, and I have a vehicle.

Thanks, Palmer.

I'm interested in meeting up with you and talking more about those duties. It'd be great if you wanted to take on the role of Volunteer Coordinator! PM me your availability, or let me know if you can meet up on Thursday afternoon (~3, 4 or 5).

I could then take on the role of GameMaster Coordinator, until such a time as Burgess (emryys) knows whether or not he will be able to work it around his job (seeing as he was nominated but hesitant). Unless anyone else wants to put forward a nomination...

No problem Joe. We met at Vcon actually. I played in DRYH (poor Jedo, overstaying his lifetime) and 3:16 (I hate the Ambush ability).

Thursday is a logical day to meet, before SGT (which I do want to go to). Alas, I'm booked to work this Thursday, and won't be off until 10pm. However, I work at Main St Station, so Lugz isn't far from there. Would you still be there after 10?

Otherwise, next week I'm free Tues-Thur, 17th-19th, in afternoons (I work nights, so don't wake up before 1pm). Thursday the 19th before SGT would seem logical. I'm looking forward to some more DRYH.
