The RPGA seminar at GenCon realeased some info about upcoming programs that will be available for LFR.

  • The 2009 Weekend in the Realms even takes places November 6-8, and will feature a first-ever novel tie-in with The Fall of Highwatch.
  • LFR Excursions: The first new program tested in September will be LFR Excursions, a public-play only offering for Living Forgotten Realms. Essentially, this brings the mini-campaign idea in a kit, with poster maps, printed adventures, and other materials the DM needs to run the year-long campaign. The first excursion will be set in the ever-popular Undermountain.
  • Lair Assault: The next new program tested later this year will have a team of characters pitted against the biggest, baddest encounters possible. Lair Assault will be both compatible with LFR as well as playable outside of that campaign.
  • Living Forgotten Realms: We will continue to offer added value to LFR in 2010, shaping the program to provide play opportunities to satisfy LFR players’ requests. Epic tier play will launch at D&D Experience 2011, with a tight story arc. And next year, expect to see us visit a favorite location of our oldest Living Campaign.

Looks like there will be lots of choices for LFR/RPGA players! Smiley

With the new edition of D&D out I decided to join the RPGA and become an "official" DM so as to get in on all the fun! Smiley
Little did I realize the it is a dungeon crawl with various obstacles and as appropriate for 4E, wonderous terrain too.

I played in a D&D Delve at cravings and signed up with an RPGA card, which is mailed in and has a "3-4 week processing time"... no problem.
After a month I asked Buck and he said join the WPN-Wizards play network... sure thing. Came back a few weeks later to another Delve and got a DCI card with a scratch off access code... Now we finally get somewhere.

IF YOU WANT TO REGISTER WITH WIZARDS, GET A DCI CARD AT AN RPGA EVENT WITH THE ACCESS CODE! ...Anything else if problematic.

I was able to register and the sign up for D&D rewards and take the Herald DM test. I did have to nudge DCI to update my account for the DM listing, but at least I was in the system... Wink

I hope to be running some 4E Living Forgotten Realms soon... hope there's some players out there! Smiley

Here is a thread with good info about getting involved with the RPGA

Well gamers, VCoN did have a fairly active game room, just a little light in the RPG department Wink
Jenni's D&D Duel game seemed a decent hit (pun intended!), with gorgeous maps that caused ink cartriges to fail saving throws.
I witnessed some Shadowrun and Torg being played, but predominately it was Munchkin, card games and board games. A few lucky folks got to play games with Mr. James Ernest himself, which looked like fun. I got to play Illuminati - NWO with a gentleman aptly named "Honcho"... I believe he had insiders who helped him win... Wink

I talked to quite a few friendly folks and spread the gospel of the guild at every turn... Perhaps next year we can game the place!

Thanks to VCoN for allowing gamers to partake Smiley

Welcome Tao (and Alison) Smiley

You guys did a great job keepin' the folks involved in games... I hope they didn't miss any of their conferences... Wink

Hi Emrys,

You should have introduced yourself to us (Tao and Alison in the Vendor's room for Starlit Citadel)! It's always nice to put a face to a name. And we'll take the blame for quite a few of the board games being run at the gaming room - we had a good friend helping demo quite a few games including Red Dragon Inn.

The newest RPG from Contested Grounds Studio, Hot War, is out now. I've just finished reading it and the book looks great. For anyone who has ever heard of or played A|State or Cold City this on's worth checking out.

They now have a Hot War wiki which you can check out also.

Any chance you'll be willing to run this at a WayWard (or some other time)?

I think that's a great idea... Mr Chew? Wink

Fall is hear and it's definately time for indoor fun Smiley
A few game titles I have been looking forward to...

Wraith Recon - 4E - Mongoose Publishing
"A new setting designed specifically for the 4th edition rules, Wraith Recon sees players taking on the roles of special forces in a world of high fantasy, sent on perilous missions to secure the safety of the Kingdom of Dardarrick. As members of the elite Wraith Recon teams, they are equipped with the finest enchanted items, including the mysterious SpellCom omnilens, a powerful item that enhances the senses and links the team together as they battle the enemies of Dardarrick."

I think this would work well for Episodic play Smiley

A Song of Ice and Fire Roleplaying - Green Ronin Publishing
"This is a brand new roleplaying game, custom designed to reflect the realities of Westeros. Play is centered around not just characters but noble houses. This provides a ready-made rationale for adventures and helps focus the campaign."

Played the quickstart at a Wayward Con at Cravings and found the rules quite intriguing... Wink

D&D Roleplaying Game Starter Set - WOTC
"The D&D Roleplaying Game Starter Set introduces the complex world of D&D play to new fans in simple, easy-to-understand ways while retaining the fantastic inspiration of the full game experience.
This product includes an introductory version of the 4th Edition rules, dice, map tiles, and an adventure to get started playing right away!"

I'm hoping this will be handy to teach the non-RPGer's

So what are others looking forward too...? [ ... ]
